5 Makeup Artists You Should Be Following on Instagram

As I write my second blog post, I would love to honor and give back to the amazing artists who have influenced my life as a makeup artist. I have been inspired to aspire to become extraordinary just like these individuals who have created a name for themselves.

1. Desi Perkins @desiperkins

I came across Desi's Instagram on a 4th of July post back in 2015. I loved her style and her bright bold red lip she wore that led me to follow her on IG and on YouTube. Till this day, she is my favorite YouTube guru, she's hilarious, but yet is down to earth who connects with her followers very closely. From meet-and-greats to posting replies back to her IG, she makes time for her fans which I truly admire from someone who has over a million followers. Her creativity and personality truly makes her number 1 on my list.

2. Lina Mourey @linamourey

Let me introduce you to my girl, Lina! We go way back when I first started my

MAC freelance days. She was someone who I gravitated to when I first spoke to who has a very bubbly personality! She also is a lover of God and is not shy to speak it out amongst her followers and posts. Her posts are very motivating and positive when you read her captions, but the serving makeup looks she creates on her stunning models makes you stop and like the photo in the first place!

3. Amra Olevic Reyes @amrezy

Amrezy has been my favorite IG guru since my college days. I came across her insta while back randomly and her blunt, yet the sweet attitude is what makes me wish I had an alter-ego. Her barbie slaying looks are perfection. She also liked one of my tweets awhile back as I tweeted "Watching @amrezy doing makeup is very therapeutic! *zen emoji" and guess what? She liked it and commented back! That's what makes me admire her as a makeup guru who loves her #reezyriders and appreciates them as well.

4. Hung Vanngo @hungvanngo

Hung Vanngo, as the Asian makeup artist community, is on the rise. Thanks to Patrick Ta and the mogul Kim Kardashian. I came across this amazing artist. I loved his looks he was always creating as they were subtle, but yet a pop of stunning glam. When I came across this beautiful look of this electric purple eye shadow. I decided to recreate it. *see photo below. I tagged and saw that Hung viewed my story, and woke up the next day with @Shaninamshaik, model below, re-posted my story on her profile. I was literally shook. I love how the internet can connect you to the right people who have inspired you.

5. Patrick Ta @patrickta

As I mentioned, Patrick was the forefront of Asian artists who was the one who created a breakthrough for makeup artists. As being Asian myself, Filipino-to be exact, I am glad to see creatives who do not fall within the medical world, make it also big in the world. I admired his story from moving to LA with a little bit of money after closing his nail shop back home and taking that leap of faith to follow his dreams as a makeup artist. As he slide into the DMs of well-known models and meeting the right people using his talent, he has created a name for himself to even creating his own #PatrickTaBeauty line.

I truly enjoy sharing who truly inspires me and feel free to comment who has inspired you.

Stay beautiful, inside and out, #mirthdolls.
